Time is ticking to get nominations in

Nominations for a place on PSNZ’s National Executive Committee (NEC) close next Tuesday so there’s still time for PSNZ members to step forward and stand for office.

PSNZ President Rhiannon Braund, who’s resignation to head Waikato’s new pharmacy programme has triggered the election, is encouraging members to consider the opportunity.

“We’ve had several nominations so there will be an election. This is a wonderful opportunity to help shape the future of PSNZ and of the pharmacy profession in New Zealand.

This is a chance for members to step into a leadership role as part of a committee that governs PSNZ and sets its strategic direction. Anyone who is a member can be nominated and we’d encourage technicians to consider standing too.

“I’ve enjoyed my role serving as president. My departure creates this vacancy on the committee. Once the new member is appointed NEC will select a President to replace me. I very much hope that people out there who wish to work as part of a team to govern PSNZ and help better support members and shape the profession take this opportunity,” says Rhiannon.

The Pharmaceutical Society of New Zealand (PSNZ) National Executive Committee (NEC) comprises of seven representatives elected from its members.

Rhiannon says NEC are looking for members of the Society who are passionate, motivated and committed to upholding the best interests of the pharmacy profession to step forward and be nominated.

Relevant professional experience in the pharmacy and wider health sector, along with good communication and decision-making skills are important.

An understanding of governance, strategy and finance would also be highly desirable.

Nomination forms, along with the candidate’s brief biographical summary (no more than 400 words), their position statement (no more than 250 words) and a portrait photo are to be returned to: p.society@psnz.org.nz, subject: National Executive Nominations
