Welcome to the first episode from Season 2 of CollegeCast!

In this episode we interview Keriana Brooking, Deputy Director-General of Health, Health System Improvement and Innovation, Ministry of Health. We will discuss the challenges facing the health system, what an integrated approach to delivering services looks like and the place of pharmacy in the integrated team.

This interview was conducted at the Society's 2019 Conference: Toward Integrated Health in August 2019.

EPISODE 2 - Ravi Sharma on emerging roles and future of pharmacy in England

In this episode Ravi Sharma discusses the health landscape of the NHS, challenges facing the pharmacy sector, positive changes happening now and emerging roles in England.

Ravi Sharma is the Director of England at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

He has held previous roles as the National Clinical Lead for Clinical Pharmacy and Genomics at NHS England and as the Vice President of the Primary Care Pharmacy Association.

Ravi continues to work as a prescribing pharmacist in a GP practice on a weekly basis. More recently, Ravi received a scholarship by the NHS to complete a Masters in Genomic Medicines at Imperial College London and has just been awarded fellowship by the Faculty of UK Clinical Informatics.

Ravi Sharma was in New Zealand as guest speaker at the 2019 PSNZ Towards Integrated Health Conference.

In this episode we talk to Helen Cant about her role as a pharmacist prescriber.

Helen Cant is currently working as pharmacist prescriber in primary care in Tokoroa, prescribing in long-term conditions especially Type 2 Diabetes. Helen is passionate about education and wants to enable everyone to manage their own health conditions optimally.

Helen is the 2018 Pharmacist of the Year and the 2019 PSNZ Shark Tank winner for her service in providing real-time glucose monitoring in poorly controlled Type 2 diabetes.
