World Antibiotic Awareness Week 12-18 November 2018
World Antibiotic Awareness Week (WAAW) is 12-18th November 2018. All health professionals including pharmacy teams are encouraged to help raise awareness of the issue of antimicrobial resistance.
The following resources are freely available in New Zealand for use to promote WAAW:
- PHARMAC have posters and tear-off pads that may be ordered at no cost via this link (click on 'public users' and then 'antibiotics' on the left hand side) or printed from their website. They have also developed email signatures, graphic tiles and logos which are available on their website.
- Choosing Wisely NZ produces a range of consumer and patient resources including several that address the appropriate use of antibiotics.
- The Ministry of Health has social media images and videos for use during WAAW and are encouraging use of the hashtags #KeepAntibioticsWorking and #AntibioticResistance. They have also collated a range of consumer resources for antibiotic awareness in one place on their website. We understand that the Ministry will be active on social media during the week so there will also be opportunity to share posts to help spread the word and raise awareness.
