Bernadette Heaphy

Bernadette has worked in the immunisation field for 20 or so years, first as an RN working in General Practice, then as an CCA assessor, an immunisation coordinator and then over the last 8 years with the Immunisation Advisory Centre as an educator/0800 advisor and currently as the regional advisor for the central region. She has under taken post graduate study in public health, vaccinology and management but still enjoys the opportunity to sit down one to one to do the pointy end of the work.

Course Information:

On completion of this course, pharmacists will be able to:

  • Describe the current measles, meningococcal and influenza situation in New Zealand
  • Describe the vaccines available in New Zealand, related to measles and meningococcal disease.
  • Explain the timing and importance of pregnancy vaccination.
  • Describe the role of vaccination in relation to family members/close contacts of new-borns.
  • Describe the proposed National Immunisation Schedule changes for 2020.

Assessment:

Pharmacists must achieve an 80% pass mark in order to complete the course.

One learning package must be purchased for each individual to complete the course.

Group 1 and 2 points are measured in "points per hour of learning" and will be confirmed by ENHANCE after the event.

Pre-reading is not assessed. Allocate Group 1 points based on one point per hour.
