Ka piki au ki te taumata rā o Marotiri. Ka titiro iho au, ki huarahi I haere ai aku mātua tipuna, ki te kimi oranga I nga takutai a Ruataupare!

I climb to the top of my mountain Marotiri, where I sit and look at the various paths taken by my ancestors in their quest to find wellbeing from the coast of Ruataupare.

Tihei mauri ora.

Ko Marotiri te maunga

Ko Mangahauini te awa

Ko te whānau a Ruataupare te hapu

Ko Ngāti Porou te iwi.

Ko Horouta te waka.

Ko Kevin Pewhairangi taku ingoa.

Kevin grew up on the East Coast of New Zealand in Tokomaru Bay. He has been a pharmacist for 9 years and currently lives in Gisborne where he has recently opened a new pharmacy, Horouta Pharmacy, with his wife Kasey.

He is the current president of the Māori Pharmacists’ Association and a proud parent of three boys, Mikaele, Mataio and Luka. Kevin was raised in Te Ao Māori with Te Reo Māori being his first language. Kapa haka and being at the Marae were also the norm for Kevin when growing up.
