Dr Anna Fenton

Anna is a Gynaecological Endocrinologist working at the Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB) and Southern Women’s Health in Christchurch. She has served on the board of Osteoporosis New Zealand and is currently the clinical lead for the CDHB Bone Density Service. Anna is a clinical densitometrist certified by both the ISCD and the ANZBMS. Anna is a member of the PTAC Endocrine Sub-committee. She has special interests in the management of premature ovarian insufficiency and the treatment of women after gynaecological cancer. Anna was co-editor-in-chief of Climacteric, the journal of the International Menopause Society from 2007 until late 2016. She is Immediate Past President of the Australasian Menopause Society. She served on the writing and editorial panel for the most recent IMS Guidelines on women’s midlife health and menopause hormone therapy.

Course Information:

On completion of this course on Menopause, pharmacists will be able to:

  • Describe the physiology of the menopause transition
  • Recognise the common symptoms that arise because of oestrogen deficiency
  • Recognise the changes that occur in women’s general health at menopause and be able to discuss appropriate health screening assessments
  • Explain the variety of evidence-based treatment options available to women at menopause
  • Recognise the risks and benefits of menopause hormone therapy in women at menopause
  • Identify the mode of action and effects of new therapies for managing menopausal symptoms

Assessment:

Pharmacists must achieve an 80% pass mark in order to complete the course.

One learning package must be purchased for each individual to complete the course.

Group 1: TWO points – for listening to the webinar but not doing the assessment, or

Group 2: FOUR points – for completion and submission of assessment questions (80% pass mark required).

Pre reading is not assessed. Allocate Group 1 points based on one point per hour.
