As part of the Abortion Law changes in 2020, a wider range of registered health practitioners can now provide abortions. PHARMAC have supported these changes and both Misoprostol and Mifepristone will be funded on prescription from 1 November 2022.
This course provides the necessary updates for pharmacists, including the law changes, information about conscientious objection and professional responsibility, information about the drugs (mode of action, side effects, interactions, contraindications, risks and complications). A focussed module on evidence based in abortion is an important aspect of this training. For a pharmacist counselling support is supplied and the pharmacist role in the service is clearly described.

Bacterial Vaginosis is a vaginal infection, resulting from changes in the normal balance of vaginal bacteria. It is the most common vaginal condition in women of childbearing age, but often not recognised, especially if symptoms are minimal or non-existent.
This course reviews the causes, presentation, and diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis and describes the treatment and management options available. Recurrence is a significant concern and methods of preventing recurrence are discussed.
