PSNZ to appoint early career pharmacist to governing body
The Pharmaceutical Society National Executive will appoint an early career pharmacist to their ranks for a trial period of a year. "We lack the voice of early career pharmacists around our Board table" says President Graeme Smith. "It is difficult for them to gain the national profile required to be elected to the National Executive. Accordingly we have taken the decision to co-opt an early career pharmacist to our governing body".
Mr Smith says it it critical for the future of the Pharmaceutical Society that potential young leaders are identified and given more responsibility. He also says it is consistent with the principles of the Pharmacy Action Plan. "Leadership is one of the key tools for change in the Action Plan" says Mr Smith. "Appointing this pharmacist to our National Executive is the first of several steps we will be taking to grow the pool of leadership talent in pharmacy".
Mr Smith says PSNZ will call for nominations of suitable candidates during October with a decision on the appointment to be taken at the November National Executive meeting. The initial term of appointment will be for one year in accordance with the PSNZ rules.
