Governance, operations and training for Pharmacy Accuracy Checking Technicians (PACTs) in New Zealand

We are excited to announce that from the 16th of May 2022, that after a thorough process, the Pharmaceutical Society has been designated responsibility for the governance, operations and training for PACTs in New Zealand.

Over the last few years, PSNZ has been working and collaborating with Medsafe and the Pharmacy Council of NZ to review and update the PACT Framework. This document now has three sections, separating the Governance, Operational and Training aspects of PACT. You can find the finalised approved document here.

Several important changes to the PACT Programme in New Zealand will take effect from today. These before and after changes for certified PACTs, PACT trainees, PACT preceptors and employers or managers are summarised in the tables found on the PSNZ PACT website page.

You will also find more information about the updated Framework document and an FAQ section that will answer most of your questions about the changes. Information relating to the licensing of pharmacies that employ PACTs is available on the Medsafe website.

Please contact us if you would like more information about what it means to become or employ a PACT.
