Only pharmacists who are accredited by the Pharmacy Council are able to supply the Emergency Contraceptive Pill (ECP) without prescription. College Education and Training provides the training programme which allows pharmacists to become accredited providers of the ECP.
Interns are only able to undertake the ECP training course if they have attended Assessment Centre. However, even after an intern successfully completes the course, registration must be successfully attained in order to become an accredited provider of the ECP with the Pharmacy Council.
This enrolment form is for the distance learning version only. The fee includes all material, assessment, and certificate of accreditation.
Course materials will be sent by post. You will be required to:
- Read the materials and consider the cases and scenarios.
- Listen to the audioconference recording.
- Complete the Assessment Questions, Parts A and B. Please mark your answers on the Answer Sheets provided and either fax or post them back to the College for marking.
Pharmacists must achieve an 80% pass mark in both sections of the assessment in order to attain accreditation. Once accreditation has been attained a Certificate of Completion of Training will be forwarded.
One learning package must be purchased for each individual accreditation.
Group 1: TWO points – for listening to the audioconference but not doing the assessment, or
Group 2: FOUR points – for completion and submission of assessment questions (80% pass mark required).
Pre reading is not assessed. Allocate Group 1 points based on one point per hour.
