This course is provided by College Education and Training, a business unit of Pharmaceutical Society of New Zealand Inc.

This webinar will cover privacy and confidentiality obligations that apply to pharmacists in their day-to-day practise. It will cover what privacy is, what the Privacy Act covers and how to deal with personal information requests under the Privacy Act. You will also learn about the Health Information Privacy Code and how this affects your decision to release or withhold information. The webinar will also cover how to avoid and how to respond to complaints made to the Privacy Commissioner.

Course Information:

On completion of this course, pharmacists will be able to:

• Identify your obligations under the Privacy Act
• Describe how changes to the Privacy Act (come into effect on 1 December 2020) will change your obligations
• Identify your obligations under the Health Information Privacy Code
• Describe how to manage and respond to requests for information (including limits on disclosure and reasons for refusing)
• Describe how to deal with complaints regarding the handling of information
  

Assessment:

Pharmacists must achieve an 80% pass mark in order to complete the course.

One learning package must be purchased for each individual to complete the course.

Group 1 and 2 points are measured in "points per hour of learning" and will be confirmed by ENHANCE after the event.

Pre reading is not assessed. Allocate Group 1 points based on one point per hour.

If you are unable to make it to the live event, a recording of the webinar will be provided on the course page within a few days.
