About the event

This course is provided by College Education and Training, a business unit of Pharmaceutical Society of New Zealand Inc.

Due to ZOOM limitations, we can only offer 100 tickets to the live webinar with Buzz. All tickets have now been allocated for this event.

Asthma should be taken more seriously than it is by many patients. Buzz will be both light, and where needed serious, and give listeners an understanding of what it is, how it is treated and why, and what we can do better. Buzz is intending to achieve both of his main objectives during the webinar and hope listeners will have been both entertained and educated after the session.

Presented by: Dr Buzz Burrell MB BS MRCPI FRNZCGP FDRHMNZ

Buzz trained in London UK graduated 1986, and joined the physician training program, finally gaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in 1991.

He joined Robin Taylor’s team in Dunedin in 1992 as a respiratory research lecturer and fellow, working on beta-2 agonists, as well as projects on COPD

The excitement of rural and remote medicine took him to Reefton on the West Coast two years later, where he was a Rural Hospital Doctor and GP, as well as working in the Chatham Islands, before four years in a remote rural practice in the Pilbara of Western Australia, returning to new Zealand in 2006.

Unexpected achievements include - Lecturer of the year 1993; runner up New Zealander of the year in 1997.
When not enjoying playing on his small hobby farm, he is now a semi-rural GP in the General Practice he started up in Renwick 10 km outside Blenheim 6 years ago; He's a Senior Lecturer for the Otago University Medical School Rural Medical Immersion Programme; and the GPSI for the Chronic Pain service in Nelson. He also ocean swims and rides a Harley – The plan is not to do both at the same time.
