Presented by: Bafreen Sherif

Bafreen Sherif is a Clinical Pharmacist at Waitemata District Health Board and has completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy with Distinction. She has undertaken her Master's research on issues pertinent to refugee healthcare needs, barriers to access (including pharmaceutical) and future healthcare direction. She has a special interest in the health status of deprived and underprivileged populations and was recently invited to speak on her research at the North American Refugee health Conference in Toronto, Canada.

Course Information:

On completion of this course, pharmacists will be able to:

  • Describe how refugees arrive in New Zealand and the existing mechanisms in place enabling successful resettlement
  • Explain the potential healthcare needs and barriers to access of refugees and how this may differ across population subgroups
  • Describe successful communication strategies to optimise medication and health-related outcomes
  • Demonstrate cultural-competency in refugee health

Assessment:

Pharmacists must achieve an 100% pass mark in order to complete the course.

One learning package must be purchased for each individual to complete the course.

Group 1 and 2 points are measured in "points per hour of learning" and will be confirmed by ENHANCE after the event.

Pre reading is not assessed. Allocate Group 1 points based on one point per hour.

If you are unable to make it to the live event, a recording of the webinar will be provided on the course page within a few days.
