Learning Objectives and Competence Standards

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the place of clozapine in schizophrenia management
  • Identify common drug interactions and effects on serum levels
  • Recognise common and serious potential adverse effects of clozapine
  • Explain the full blood count (FBC) monitoring required for people taking clozapine
  • Explain how to manage unusual dispensing situations

Competence Standards:

O1.2 Provide Healthcare, O1.3 Review and Manage Patient's Medicines Therapy, O1.4 Deliver Quality and Safe Services, O3.1 Assess prescriptions and O3.5 Provide Patient Counselling.

Assessment

Group 1: 1.5 points – for completing the learning but not completing and passing the assessment, or

Group 2: 3 points – for completion and submission of assessment questions (100% pass mark (with maximum of 3 attempts) required).
