Dr Manish Khanolkar

Dr Khanolkar is a Specialist Physician and Endocrinologist with a special interest in Diabetes working at Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and in private rooms at Ponsonby Specialist Centre.

Following his post-graduation in Medicine (MD, TN Medical college, 1999), he moved to the UK to work in the NHS. After his General Medical training (MRCP-UK, 2002), he completed his specialist training in Diabetes and Endocrinology from the Wales Deanery (CCT Diabetes & Endocrinology- UK, 2009). Over the course of his specialist training, his research work entitled ‘The effects of insulin sensitizing therapy on platelet, vascular function and blood pressure in type 2 diabetes mellitus’ was accepted for MD (Cardiff University, 2009). He remains on the Specialist register of the General Medical Council, UK.

He moved to Auckland in 2009 where he works as a Specialist Physician with Auckland DHB. Besides his clinical work, he continues his research interests in collaboration with the University of Auckland and the Human Nutrition unit. He is also an active teacher at the medical school.

Course Information:

On completion of this course, pharmacists will be able to:

  • Describe factors influencing glycaemic management of the traveller with Diabetes Mellitus.
  • Describe how to develop a pre-travel checklist highlighting key issues to discuss with the Diabetes subject.
  • Discuss specific advice on insulin management when travelling across time zones.

Assessment:

Pharmacists must achieve an 80% pass mark in order to complete the course.

One learning package must be purchased for each individual to complete the course.

Group 1: 2 points – for listening to the webinar but not doing the assessment, or

Group 2: 4 points – for completion and submission of assessment questions (80% pass mark required).

Pre reading is not assessed. Allocate Group 1 points based on one point per hour.
