Presented by: Dr Arran Culver

Dr Culver is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who has worked across a broad range of roles within the mental health and addiction sector, and is currently Professional Lead for Psychiatry and Clinical Leader for Younger Persons Community Mental Health Services across Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast DHBs. He is also on the HQSC Child and Youth Mortality Review Committee which is currently focusing on Maori youth suicide.

Course Information:

On completion of this course, pharmacists will be able to:

  • Recognise key signs and symptoms of depression in adolescents
  • Describe how to screen for adolescent depression and suicidal thoughts/behaviours
  • Identify when and where to refer
  • Identify main evidence based treatments for adolescent depression at different levels of severity
  • Recognise common risk factors for depression and suicide in adolescents.

Assessment:

Pharmacists must achieve an 80% pass mark in order to complete the course.

One learning package must be purchased for each individual to complete the course.

Group 2 points will be available. Exact amount to be confirmed.

Pre reading is not assessed. Allocate Group 1 points based on one point per hour.
